AI-Generated Content
AI features in Cognito use Google's Gemini API to generate flashcards, quiz options, explanations, and answer evaluations. Important notices:
- AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies or errors
- You are responsible for reviewing and verifying all AI-generated material
- AI content should not be relied upon for medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical decisions
- Free users can save up to 3 AI-generated batches per day; Premium users have unlimited access
User Accounts & Authentication
Cognito offers optional user accounts via Sign in with Apple. Account features include:
- A public nickname and avatar visible to other users
- The ability to publish and manage shared card decks
- Download decks shared by other community members
You may use the App without creating an account. Anonymous users retain full access to flashcard creation, study, and AI features. Authentication is required only for community sharing features.
Account data (nickname, avatar, shared deck metadata) is stored in Google Firebase/Firestore. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from the App settings.
Shared Decks & Community Content
When you publish a card deck to the community, the following information becomes publicly visible:
- Deck title, description, and tags
- Card content (front and back text)
- Your public nickname
- Download count and creation date
By publishing a deck, you confirm that:
- You have the right to share the content
- The content does not contain offensive, hateful, discriminatory, or inappropriate material
- The content does not violate any third-party intellectual property rights
- The content is suitable for an educational community
We reserve the right to remove any shared deck that violates these guidelines without notice. Repeated violations may result in account suspension.
User Content
You retain ownership of all flashcards and study materials you create. When importing content from external sources (Anki decks, CSV files), you are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use that content.
Content you submit to AI features (topics, images, card text) is processed by Google Gemini API according to their terms. We do not store or access your content on our servers — except for decks you explicitly choose to share with the community.
Privacy
Your local data is stored on your device. We collect anonymous analytics to improve the App. Account data and shared decks are stored in Firebase/Firestore. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Intellectual Property
The App, its design, code, and branding are the intellectual property of the developer. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal purposes in accordance with these Terms.
Limitation of Liability
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We make no guarantees about the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of AI-generated content. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.
Termination
We reserve the right to restrict or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be reflected with an updated date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
